Some of our road side picnic spots are stunningly beautiful locations! This waterfalls just west of Ignace is signed only with a brown picnic table sign post.
Tall pine trees and a half dozen separate outlooks over this spectacular falls were located less than a minute from the highway.
Canada doesn't seem to advertise these beautiful spots. They are intimate and personal; perfect for a glass of wine and a picnic lunch. |

Beating the Summer Heat
Thunder Bay Residents cool off in the Current River at the Cascades Conservation Area. Visitors can access this popular swimming hole by going to the end of Balsam Street. It is a pleasant 10 minute walk in from the parking lot.
For safety reasons bring water shoes and please avoid the temptation to dive or jump in as the water depth varies substantially.

Victoria's Secret
In a recent edition of Superior Outdoors they featured a new attraction for the exploring enthusiast. Victoria's Secret is an attraction paralleling the beauty and uniqueness of the Sea Lion at Silver Islet or even the Sleeping Giant some claim. This photographic gem lies roughly mid way between Thunder Bay and the Pigeon River border crossing. It is a little more difficult to get to as it's out on the shore of Victoria Island, but where nature has been unkind to the mighty Sea Lion, Victoria's image is well preserved.
If your one of those people seeking a challenge, and the associated rewards of finding a true gem in the rough, we invite you to seek the following coordinates:
